Why Did I Start TheraCourse?

I have been a speech-language pathologist since 2004 when I completed my master's in speech-language pathology from

Northeastern University.  I completed my CFY at a center-based Early Intervention program and preschool in Brooklyn NY.  I then worked in Early Intervention at Children's Hospital Boston before becoming a school-based speech-language pathologist.  I have been working in the public schools for the last 17 years including.

Working in the schools I quickly learned that I needed to take graduate credit courses in order to receive salary lane advances and to meet my CEU requirements.  I searched and searched but only found speech-language pathology courses that were extremely expensive and rarely online or courses that were geared towards classroom teachers.  I spent years taking courses that were affordable but not relevant to me as an SLP.  It was frustrating that nobody was offering these types of courses to school-based SLPs.  So in 2012 I decided to change that.  I started TheraCourse so that school-based speech-language pathologists could take self-paced online courses that were not only affordable but also helped them improve their clinical skills needed to work with students.  It has been an incredibly rewarding experience over the past 10 years since starting TheraCourse to offer these courses to speech-language pathologist and special educators across the country or stationed at military bases overseas who are committed to helping students with communication disorders.

I am a proud military wife and mom.  I have an amazing preschool aged son and two wonderful teen-aged stepchildren.  I am passionate about working with children.  I haven't worked with a population that I haven't loved but my favorite populations have been students with ASD and Down Syndrome.  I love to travel, cook and spend time with my family.
